What gift does my husband get for me to show his love for me??????
DONUTS!!!!!! I am sound to sleep and am awakened by hearing a sound of rustling papersack. “Wake up Honey, I got your favorite donut….cinnamon roll”. Then he starts telling me how fresh and delicious it is because it’s 6:30 am and they were just made. I look up and there he is in our bed with a pink box of a dozen donuts. He’s eating them and he seems to be in heaven. So, I open my baggie, and there’s not just 1 cinnamon roll, my husband loves me so much he brought me 2! And they are big!
I smell them and they do smell great! So I think to myself, “Should I just eat these babies and start over tomorrow”? Well, no. I decided to let myself have a taste and that’s it. That way I am not depriving myself. I start to feel angry because he knows I am diabetic and that carbs and sugars will raise my blood glucose dangerously high. I have told him time and time again that I can’t eat them. Then I got to thinking, I have to realize that I am the only one in my home that has diabetes and it’s not fair to make my husband withhold from one of his favorite treats. But, did he have to rub them in my face and wake me up with them? No. Hahaha, to get my revenge, I wrote all over the pink box, things like, “Death”, “Diabetic Coma”, “Stacey, do not eat these”, and I drew a big tombstone on the front which my husband got a chuckle out of. I mean, my husband doesn’t bring me a lot of gifts so it’s hard not to be appreciative and it was a tough decision not to eat the donuts but I have to make my health more important than people’s feelings getting hurt. I know he meant well.
Anyhow, while typing this, he came in and saw that I have started this blog. Guess who’s in trouble now?
lol Hey girl, very proud of you for staying strong. Hubby tried so he gets points for efforts. Have a great day!! Debbie
hahaha I understand. My sister always takes my mom to get a pumpkin scone at Starbucks and I get mad. I am like “Mom CANNOT eat this…” I grew up in a household with a diabetic so I am use to it by now but other memebers of my family aren’t so great. That was nice of your husband….in his mind he is trying.
My older brother also pours my mom a glass of beer to try and I get pissed off. I am like “Hello do you not realize mom is diabetic!”
That is great you wrote that on the box! Good idea!
Maybe next time your husband can go on a walk with you or something, tell him that is what you would really love. My husband wines but he knows it is important to me so he goes.
good for u just having a couple bites. My husband can do that to me often. I just ask him if he loves me to show me in other areas besides food. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. It is hard when one spouse has a weight problem and the other can eat just about everything and anything without a problem.
Good job Stacey! That is beyond tough! You did amazing - not sure if I could do that with warm donuts staring me in the face…LOL I am proud of you…!
Way to go, hard hard to resist fresh donuts! Just the smell can make me go crazy. Husbands are a funny bred, my guy keeps telling me I need to lose because I’m going to ruin my health. But will he fix his own snack? Horrors!!!! How could I expect that? So I have to try to look the other way and not sample what I’m fixing. HA!
Oh well he’s a good guy anyway, even if he can drop 20 pounds in a month. Keep up the good work.
Good job in only having a little bit! I know how hard that is. Excruciatingly hard! lol It would be nice if your hubby could show his love in a way that would be more fitting to your needs. I do understand his excitement in wanting to share what means so much to him with you though. Such a tough situation!

Tasting is better then total deprivation. Your husband is a sweet guy.
Yeah, he is a sweet guy!!!!! I just read him the comments and I think he’s got an understanding of it all. His reply was, “It is your favorite and you don’t have to eat the whole thing”. He means well!
Been there with my hubby this past week. I think he got the drift! Men just don’t get it! Hope he got it with your drawings on the box! Good job just taking a bite!
Big HUGS!
Wow…makes you wonder sometimes if they want us fat…haha! Congrats to you on not polishing the donuts AND licking the bag! Dont know if I would have had the strength while still waking up
Well.. I guess I c where ur coming from if he barely buys u gifts, but the fact of the matter is that a donut is not a gift. It is the complete opposite. Does he know u r a diabeteic? Does he know what can happen 2 u if u eat things like that? It just doesnt seem very caring and concerning 2 me. I remember just being on my diet when my bf bought me a donut. I took the donut and crumbled it up and through it out the window before cursing him out big time!! lol…
Well, Happy 4 u that u didnt eat it… Great job
Don’t cha love our men? Like last night Rodney brought home 3 donuts for us! WTH? LOL
Well, I hope things are still good at your home! Stay with it girl, you can do it.

Haha! My husband does “thoughtful” stuff like that too. And he hates when I talk about him on here!!! I love that you drew a tombstone on the box, that’s too funny. Maybe I will start drawing women who are too fat to fit into their clothes on all the bad food that comes into my house as motivation.
Oh Stacey, He’s just lucky you didn’t kick him in the ‘donuts’. lol Men are so clueless. John not only got me Euphoria chocolate for our anniversary last year, he bought me a chocolate colored mug with their logo on it in gold, for my coffee. I ate all the chocolate, and I use the mug every morning. (I wouldn’t hurt his feelings for the world) It might have slowed my weight loss down a little, but what the heck. It’s not like I’m in a big hurry…

This is kind of funny. I mean you drawing on the box but hey if it works,,,
congratulations on denying the donuts. Not sure I could of been that strong that early in the morning.
Hmmm, if he knows you are trying to lose weight, I question bringing a gift of donuts too. I wouldn’t do that to my boyfriend and make it even harder for him. My boyfriend used to bring me my favorite candy bar until I point-blank asked him to stop and told him it was hurting my weight loss efforts. Sometimes I think men get insecure when we lose weight. Or maybe they’re just dense
MEN! I think everything else has been said. Congrats on having just a taste, that’s usually harder than having none!
Ya know what I’d rather have than cinamon roll donuts (d’s fave, by the way)? SLEEP!!!
